AdSpace continued as Swindler Preventer

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

AdSpace is dead; long live AdSpace! Thortok2000 has picked up the code… he’ll be maintaining the database and adding features under the new name Swindler Preventer. You can find it at WoWInterface.com and worldofwar.net.

Feed-O-Matic 3.0.4

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Includes an update to the PeriodicTable library, fixing an issue in which older versions of the library’s datasets would override newer versions… which could cause FOM to ignore certain foods.

FactionFriend 3.0.2

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008
  • Fixed a bug where reputation icons in the menu could be an incorrect color.
  • Added an option (off by default) to enhance the default UI’s reputation messages in the chat window with a calculation of remaining repeat gains to reach the next reputation level. (e.g. “Reputation with Sporeggar increased by 750. (13.1 equal gains to Revered)”)
  • Includes a possible fix for a rare issue which could cause WoW to lock up.

Linkerator 3.0.1

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Fixes an error when attempting to type links in chat.

FactionFriend 3.0.1

Monday, October 20th, 2008
  • Updated Timbermaw turnin values to reflect changes in WoW Patch 3.0.2.
  • Added preliminary support for Wrath of the Lich King factions:
    • Zone-based automatic reputation bar switching for the Strand of the Ancients battleground.
    • Repeatable collection turnins for The Sons of Hodir and Knights of the Ebon Blade.

Feed-O-Matic 3.0.3

Saturday, October 18th, 2008
  • Includes an update to the PeriodicTable library and its food lists:
    • Fixes subcategory/supercategory linkage issues that caused FOM to ignore certain foods (such as Conjured Mana Biscuit and Naaru Ration).
    • Includes all (currently known to Wowhead) new foods from Wrath of the Lich King content.
  • Reorganized the Food Preferences panel slightly to account for Wrath of the Lich King foods having more possible cooking products. (Don’t like mammoth? Try cooking it differently!)
  • Fixed an error that could occur when FOM chooses the next food to use.
  • Fixed an issue where FOM wouldn’t choose a food (and thus feeding would be unavailable) after reloading the UI.
  • Fixed an issue where category headers would inconsistently appear grayed out in the Food Preferences list.
  • Items that aren’t in the PeriodicTable categories corresponding to the six possible pet diets (i.e. not edible by pets) will no longer show in the Food Preferences list.
  • Added more random feeding emotes thanks to the commenters at maniasarcania.com. Feeding emotes can now be made specific to categories of foods (specified by PeriodicTable sets).

Feed-O-Matic 3.0.2

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008
  • Fixed an bug causing us to ignore diets beyond the first for pets with multiple diets.
  • Fixed an error when attempting to play pet hungry sounds.
  • Added French random emotes by Laumac from WoWInterface.com.

Disenchant Predictor 3.0.1

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Fixed an issue that could cause disconnects when mousing over items.

Feed-O-Matic 3.0.1

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Bugfix release. For major changes in v. 3.0, see its release notes (further down this page, or here).

  • Fixed a bug where clicking foods in the new Food Preferences panel wouldn’t show them as excluded/unchecked.
  • When a category is excluded/unchecked in said panel, the foods within it appear grayed out.

Disenchant Predictor 3.0

Monday, October 13th, 2008
  • Updated for compatibility with WoW Patch 3.0 and Wrath of the Lich King.
  • Tooltips for reagents now use an inline graphic to indicate which expansion’s items they disenchant from.
  • Includes preliminary data to support predicting disenchants for Wrath items:
    • We don’t yet have enough data to predict all Wrath disenchants. Disenchant Predictor will show details in the chat window if you disenchant something that doesn’t match its expectations — send them in so future releases can be more accurate!
    • In Wrath content, there’s no longer a correlation between items’ required level seen in-game and the internal item level that determines disenchant results. So, tooltips for Lesser/Greater Cosmic Essence and Small/Large Dream Shards can only say “disenchants from lower/higher level Wrath items”.
  • Removed the Auto Loot option, as the one built into WoW works for Disenchanting now.
  • Now uses the Interface Options panel for configuration.

FactionFriend 3.0

Monday, October 13th, 2008
  • Updated for compatibility with WoW Patch 3.0 and Wrath of the Lich King.
  • Redesigned the menu that appears upon right-clicking the reputation watch bar to handle the new three-level faction hierarchy in WoW 3.0:
    • Replaced faction status text with Armory-style icons.
    • By default, all factions are in submenus, grouped according to the new top-level headers in WoW 3.0 (Classic, Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Other).
    • Since digging into submenus all the time isn’t so great, the 10 factions you’ve most recently watched or gained/lost reputation with are shown in the top level of the menu.
    • As before, you can hide factions from the menu by moving them to the Inactive group in the Reputation pane. If 35 or fewer factions remain active, the menu will switch to a simpler layout without submenus.
  • Added Burning Crusade factions & dungeons for the zone-based automatic reputation bar switch feature:
    • The outdoor Isle of Quel’Danas shows the Shattered Sun Offensive on the reputation bar.
    • All 5-man dungeons show the faction whose reputation is earned therein.
    • Karazhan and Hyjal Summit raids show their respective factions as well.
  • Updated Thorium Brotherhood turnin values to reflect changes in recent WoW patches.
  • Fixed a discrepancy with Sporeggar item turnin quantities.
  • Fixed an issue where collapsing headers in the reputation pane would interfere with our ability to auto-switch the reputation watch bar or display factions in the menu.
  • Updated French localization by Kehrsyn of Culte de la Rive Noire (EU).
  • Added basic locale support for Russian and Spanish based on Wowhead’s multilingual database. (That is, enough translations for all features to work the same as in English, but no localized UI text.)

Feed-O-Matic 3.0

Monday, October 13th, 2008
  • Updated for compatibility with WoW Patch 3.0 and Wrath of the Lich King.
  • Rebuilt FOM’s system for choosing foods to feed your pet:
    • Our database of valid pet foods now comes from the PeriodicTable library.
    • Priority order for choosing foods is based (in part) on PeriodicTable sets (conjured, basic, or bonus foods, etc.)
    • There’s now a Food Preferences sub-panel under GFW Feed-O-Matic in the Interface Options window.
      • In it, all valid pet foods your WoW client has seen are listed by category.
      • The order of categories and foods in the list reflects the priority order for choosing foods: those nearer the top of the list will be picked before those below.
      • Individual foods can be unchecked in the list to prevent FOM from feeding them to your pet.
      • Entire categories can also be unchecked, which will prevent FOM from using any food of that category (even ones you haven’t seen yet). By default, only the “Well Fed” foods are disabled, so be sure to visit the list if you want to exclude other foods.
      • The list can be filtered to show only relevant foods for your pet (or for a pet of about your level, if you don’t have a pet summoned at the moment) or only foods you’re currently carrying.
      • If a food can be cooked, the list shows information about each of the the Cooking recipe(s) that use it: whether you know the recipe, its difficulty (i.e. orange, yellow, green or gray in the Cooking window), and the food produced.
      • This list replaces the “avoid bonus foods” and “avoid cooking foods” options in previous releases.
  • The “keep bag space open” option from previous releases has been removed: given multiple stacks of the same food, FOM will now always consume the smaller stack first so as to free up bag space more quickly.
  • Fixed several issues which caused the “Avoid foods needed for quests” option to fail.
  • Added numerous random feeding emotes — thanks to Mania and the creative commenters at http://maniasarcania.com!
  • Locale issues:
    • The random text added to feeding emotes (e.g. “Yum!”, “Good boy!”, etc) is now localizable. See the FeedOMatic_Emotes.lua file for details. (Thanks Virshan for a few Spanish.)
    • Added Korean localization by Boddalhee of Deathwing (KR).
    • Added Spanish localization by Javier Melo.
    • Added basic locale support for Russian, and updated basic locale support for French and German, based on Wowhead’s multilingual database. (That is, enough translations for all features to work the same as in English, but no localized UI text.)
      • Translations are missing for the new and renamed beast families (in WoW 3.0 / WotLK), so the family-specific hungry sounds don’t currently work in locales other than English.

Levelator 3.0

Monday, October 13th, 2008
  • Updated for compatibility with WoW Patch 3.0 and Wrath of the Lich King.
  • Levels are no longer inserted with quest links in chat — click the link to see the level in the tooltip.
  • Fixed an error with addition of quest levels to tooltips.

Linkerator 3.0

Monday, October 13th, 2008
  • Updated for compatibility with WoW Patch 3.0 and Wrath of the Lich King.
  • It’s now possible to retrieve item links given a known item ID (using /link <number>) even if the item is not in your client’s local cache. Items unknown by the server will return no results.
  • Includes preliminary support for spell links — they’re now returned in /link search results but not for as-you-type linking. More spell, talent, quest, and achievement link features will follow in future releases.

Hunter’s Helper Discontinued

Monday, October 13th, 2008

WoW Patch 3.0 introduces a new system for Hunter pets — no longer does one need to search beasts all over the world to find new and upgraded abilities for one’s primary pets. Hunter’s Helper was designed primarily to fill that shortcoming… and with the old pet system laid to (a long overdue rest), HH is a solution without a problem.

So, Hunter’s Helper now joins Guildentipper and TrackMenu in the ranks of Fizzwidget Industries products made happily obsolete by improvements to World of Warcraft itself. Thanks to everyone who used it and provided feedback over the past three years!
