Linkerator 2.0

Monday, December 4th, 2006
  • Updated for compatibility with WoW 2.0 (and the Burning Crusade Closed Beta).
  • NOTE: Linkerator doesn’t quite work right for new random-property items from Burning Crusade content (e.g. [Naaru Lightmace of the Elder]… we’ll retrieve the link, but it’ll show +0 for its added stats due to changes in the WoW client/server architecture).

Hunter’s Helper 2.0

Monday, December 4th, 2006
  • Updated for compatibility with WoW 2.0 (and the Burning Crusade Closed Beta).
  • NOTE: Hunter’s Helper works on the BC beta, but does not yet provide info on expansion content — as such content is still very much subject to change.
    • No data on expansion beasts or new skills (yet). But running Hunter’s Helper as you explore and tame new beasts will help us gather such data!
    • The ability of /hh find to search for beasts closest to your location should work for outdoor zones, but does not yet have a full list of expansion instances. Searching while in a new dungeon will search for beasts closest to your home city.

Guildentipper 2.0

Monday, December 4th, 2006
  • Updated for compatibility with WoW 2.0 (and the Burning Crusade Closed Beta).
  • Added AFK/DND display to the tooltip, since that information is now readily accessible by addons. (And once you can see both AFK/DND and guild name in the tooltip, you’re not missing any information if you turn off overhead display of player names.)

Gemologist 2.0

Monday, December 4th, 2006
  • Updated for compatibility with WoW 2.0 (and the Burning Crusade Closed Beta).
  • NOTE: Gemologist works on the BC beta, but does not yet provide info on expansion content — as such content is still subject to change.

Feed-O-Matic 2.0

Monday, December 4th, 2006
  • Redesigned to use new secure action functionality in WoW 2.0 (and the Burning Crusade Closed Beta):
    • Feed-O-Matic now maintains a special action button for feeding your pet a specific item from your bags. Whenever your inventory changes, Feed-O-Matic will (if necessary) choose an appropriate food for your pet’s next feeding and set up the button to use it.
    • To use this action button, click the pet happiness icon or bind a key…
    • Due to limitations in WoW 2.0’s key binding interface, key bindings for Feed-O-Matic are found in its own Options window instead of the normal Key Bindings window. To show Feed-O-Matic’s options window, type /fom or right-click the pet happiness icon.
    • It’s no longer possible to feed your pet from a custom chat command, so /fom feed has been removed. (It is possible to feed your pet in a macro, but this requires a static choice of foods: e.g. /cast Feed Pet /use Roasted Quail.)
    • The pet happiness icon will darken if Feed-O-Matic can’t find any appropriate food. Mousing over the buttons shows why we can’t find food for your pet (either there’s nothing in your inventory your pet will eat, or you’ve configured Feed-O-Matic to avoid certain foods and those are the only ones left).
  • We now automatically detect whether a food provides a bonus effect when eaten by players (e.g. a Stamina buff in addition to the health gained), instead of needing to be told which foods fall into this category. If you find that Feed-O-Matic fails to detect such a food, please let us know!
  • Added many foods from Burning Crusade content to the default list. If you find more, please let us know!
  • NOTE: The new tameable beast families don’t yet have specific sounds for when they’re hungry, so they’ll just play a bell sound instead. (If you’d like to help pick some, please contact us with the paths of sound files in the WoW MPQs that you think would be appropriate: e.g. “Sound\Creature\OWl\OwlPreAggro.wav”.)

FactionFriend 2.0

Monday, December 4th, 2006
  • Updated for compatibility with WoW 2.0 (and the Burning Crusade Closed Beta).
  • Added preliminary data on Burning Crusade repeatabable item turnins. Any additional information you can provide (on what items can be repeatably turned in for which factions, how many are needed, and any restrictions on reputation level for the turnin to be available) would be most welcome!

Disenchant Predictor 2.0

Monday, December 4th, 2006
  • Updated for compatibility with WoW 2.0 (and the Burning Crusade Closed Beta).
  • We now print a line to the chat window when you begin disenchanting an item, making it easier to follow which reagents came from where when discenchanting many items.
  • We also track whether a disenchant comes out as predicted, and print an error message in the chat window if we see a reagent we weren’t expecting (with diagnostic info and a request to contact us so we can improve prediction in future releases).
  • Redesigned the prediction algorithms to use an item’s own level (a statistic not visible in the default UI, but now available to addons) rather than the required level to equip it. This means:
    • We now have more accurate predictions for Burning Crusade high-level items (which include greens of required level 57-60 whose item levels are 80-90, and thus disenchant differently than old level 57-60 greens).
    • We can now predict disenchants for quest rewards or other items which have no level requirement.
  • Streamlined some older code for better efficiency.
  • WoW 2.0 now adds a line to the tooltip showing the required enchanting skill to disenchant an item, or that it’s not disenchantable at all — we catch this now and won’t display predictions for an item once we’ve learned it can’t be disenchanted.
  • NOTE: Predictions for Burning Crusade items/reagents are still tentative based on what data we’ve acquired so far. If you see an item disenchant into something that didn’t match our predictions, please let us know!

AdSpace 2.0

Monday, December 4th, 2006
  • Updated for compatibility with WoW 2.0 (and the Burning Crusade Closed Beta).
  • NOTE: AdSpace works on the BC beta, but does not yet provide info on expansion content — as such content is still subject to change.

Enchant Seller Discontinued

Saturday, December 2nd, 2006

So, it turns out that my handful of investors and employees who pursue Enchanting never really spent much time trying to make money from the profession… and thus, this product never saw much use within Fizzwidget Industries. It’s hard to make a product competitive if one isn’t using it oneself, and even harder if one’s also trying to juggle several other projects. Since WoW 2.0 and the Burning Crusade require substantial changes to all addons, this is a good time to declare Enchant Seller officially discontinued.

Old versions will continue to be available from here in case other addon authors find the source code useful; see the older release notes listings for download links.

AutoCraft Discontinued

Saturday, December 2nd, 2006

The key functionality behind AutoCraft was broken in WoW Patch 1.10, and it’s even more so in WoW Patch 2.0 and The Burning Crusade… so I don’t find it very worthwhile to continue maintenance of this product. Old versions will continue to be available from here in case other addon authors find the source code useful; see the older release notes listings for download links.

For a different approach to the same concepts that’s still being supported, seek out “Advanced TradeSkill Window” at any of the major WoW Addon websites.
