- Fixed a few more nil table errors.
- Introduced a new option
tooltip
, which adds a brief summary of your pet’s opinion to tooltips when looking at food items. Now it’s easy to go through your inventory and sell off any foods your pet has outgrown.
- Added help text for the
quality
option introduced last release.
- Won’t auto-feed if the pet is under a Damage over Time effect (e.g. poison), as DOTs can break the feed effect and make the pet unhappy. (This works by doing pattern-matching on debuff effect descriptions, so if you see auto-feed still happening under a DOT, please let me know which debuff you’re getting and its tooltip description.)

You’re funny — often leaving out the download link. Not that it isn’t easy to copy the shortcut for an earlier one and change a 4 to a 5. Still, funny.
Awesome mod, btw. How about adopting smartpet and making it awesome, too?

I think WordPress is mocking me… coulda swore I entered the right post ID to match the download name, but it went and auto-generated the wrong one anyway. Time to take a wrench to it…
I’d been working on something not unlike SmartPet some time ago — like Feed-O-Matic, it grew out of Rauen’s hunter mods. I lost interest when 1.6 (or was it 1.5?) broke the primary feature of PetDefend, and my hunter friend has been mostly satisfied with the base client since 1.7. I may come back to it sometime, though.

I miss PetDefend too, if nothing else, just having a key binding to attack the target of my target or the main tank’s target would be great.

Get this error on startup
FeedOMatic.lua:224:attempt to call global ‘GFWTooltip_AddCallback’ (a nil value)
I don’t see GFWTooltip_AddCallback defined anywhere!!!
Btw. your other mods that I used to use as well seem to break the new version of EnhTooltip – I know you mentioned something about EnhTooltip being a problem, it seems as if it goes both ways then 🙁

First, love the mod.
Couple of errors I’ve noticed:
It tries (and harmlessly fails) to feed while you’re mounted. It also tries when you’re swimming, and this causes the food to be consummed…I went through half a stack before I realized it (I had the sound off!)
Thanks again!

Oops… the new tooltip feature in 1700.5 makes use of my GFWTooltip utility, which I forgot to include with this release. 1700.6 is up now, fixing this.
What problems are you seeing with EnhTooltip? I’m running the latest EnhTooltip here (with Auctioneer) and not having any issues… are you sure you’ve got the latest versions of all my mods? This is now at 1700.6, and AdSpace and Disenchant Predictor (which previously used EnhTooltip but don’t anymore) are at 1700.4.
Feed-O-Matic uses pattern matching on the buff description to detect when you’re mounted (testing the icon name for the buff isn’t enough, as the same icons used for some mounts are also used for other buffs, like Aspect of the Pack). I don’t have the budget to test all possible mounts — if you’re seeing it still feeding while mounted, please let me know what mount you’re using.
Avoiding auto-feeding while in water is tricky — there’s no way for the UI scripting environment to know that you’re swimming. I’ve got an idea or two for how to deal with this problem or at least work around it, but it’ll take some time to implement and test. For now I’d suggest turning auto-feeding off if you’re planning any extended aquatic excursions.
