- Due to changes in WoW patch 1.10, it’s no longer possible for UI addons to feed your pet automatically without direct input; the automatic feeding function is thus no longer available in Feed-O-Matic. You may still find Feed-O-Matic quite useful for its ability to automatically choose foods for your pet and feed them at the touch of a button — the “Feed Pet” button (configurable in WoW’s Key Bindings menu) and
/fom feed
chat/macro command still work just great.
- As an aid to those suffering auto-feed withdrawal, there’s now an option for Feed-O-Matic to provide an extra reminder when your pet needs feeding (in case you find the icon next to your pet’s health bar too subtle). This is accessed by the same
/fom level
command that previously controlled automatic feeding; when your pet’s happiness falls below the specified level, the happiness icon will blink until you feed him enough to sate his hunger.
- Fixed a bug where an error panel could appear when attempting to feed the pet with the
fallback
option turned off and the only foods in your inventory being types you’d prefer to avoid.
- KNOWN BUG: The tooltip additions aren’t showing up in all cases where they should. Another update to address this issue should be coming along soon.

Good changes, but I don’t think they are working with custom action bars / unit frames… at least not with Discord. And did the sound effect for when it was feeding go away – that was still useful even though he didn’t auto-feed!

Pity the auto-feed is gone, but FoM is still a highly useful tool. Thanks again!

Thanks for the update. I was hoping that you would not drop the project since it is still very useful. I love the work you do and please keep up the good work.

One thing I’d really like to see now is a banner or chat message saying “Time to feed your pet!” in addition to the glowing frame.
I’d also like to find something else to ‘hook’ that would allow auto-feeding at sensible times, e.g., looting the previous corpse. That will keep the pet fed as you level.

Damn, i loved autofeed. But it’s still very usefull. Thanks for your work, too!

Thanks – the update is cool! I like others though find myself listening for the feed sound as a cue. Would it be possible to add some sort of feed sound when the icon starts to flash?
Cheers!

I really miss the autofeed, but I created the /fom macro and all is well. I really like not having to select what food I give my pet each time. Even without the autofeed this is still a great addon. Just need to upgrade mine when I get home. Thanks for your time and efforf you put into all of your mods!

I second the motion for a feed sound… I find that I miss the flashing icon with everything else that’s going on on the screen.

I’m using a player/pet/target bar replacement, and the pet happiness icon doesn’t flash when my pet is hungry. I second the “play a sound” motion!
Thanks!

I agree with Benjamin. It is indeed a pity that this excellent tool is no longer available to us as a fully functioning tool. I’m sure that many will join me in thanking Gazmik for providing this wonderful add-on and doing so much hard work on it while Blizzard’s code made it possible to use it.
I am still going to use it as an easy feeding control which will separate food for the pet from food needed for other purposes. I would like to suggest that Gazmik change and continue to modify it for those purposes.
I am currently using this mod in conjunction with Discord Unit Frames and Discord Action Buttons to make a button which lights up to tell you when you need to feed your pet. The moment it lights up, push it and voila! Yer critter is fed!

I agree with Seeingone. This Add-on still has plenty of potential as a data base of stuff that is okay for your pet to eat combined with a flashing “Feed Me” button. That’s more or less what I’ve created by using Discord Unit Frames combined with a script button using Feed-o-Matic and the “/fom feed” command, but having it as a stand-alone would be useful not only for me, but also for all those who don’t want to have to bother with cobbling something together using the Discord system.
So Giz, GET BUSY Gazmik!

I agree on the need for a sound when the icon starts to flash. I was getting used to just listening for the sound in the previous version and then feeding with /fom feed key.

Ditto on the sound — I was also listening for the “munch” sound from FOM to remind me that my pet was hungry.
As always, awesome work, Gazmik!

Ok…now that feed o matic doesn’t work properly….I see that typing /fom feed works. However, how do I best tie that command to the little dog bone icon (feed pet button). I don’t know how to do a macro or key binding. I guess it will be one of those.
Thank you

So, is it possible to feed the pet by clicking on that icon next to the pet that shows its happiness level? How hard would it be to add that to the mod?
April 5th, 2006 at 3:15 pm
Can you make it so clicking the flashing pet happiness indicator will do a /fom?
April 6th, 2006 at 3:33 am
I’ve noticed that Feed-O-Matic will initiate a trade with another player if I have them targeted when I do /fom feed (trying to trade them the food item I’d otherwise be feeding my pet).
Is there any way to keep that from happening, say if my target is not my pet, to feed my pet.. and not the target?
April 7th, 2006 at 2:07 pm
I came here to suggest the same thing as Jonathan: that clicking the happiness indicator feed your pet. I don’t really have a spare key or button! Would be great if you could do it.

Hiya, I have a bread making trinket from a quest and you don’t have it’s “harvest Bread” included.
Also, i just grabbed some conjured food from a mage and autofood still used other stuff first. Conjured things that will disappear should always be higher priority if possible.
Thanks heaps!

I see a lot of people have suggested or voiced their interest in a sound playing when the pet’s happiness level falls below a certain level, instead of the flashing icon.
I agree that this would be a great addition, but I’m wondering if the Feed-O-Matic could have a feature letting us choose for ourselves how to get a notice that our pet needs feeding (either through a sound, the flashing icon, or a message in the chat window). ^^;
Other than that, I’d just like to say, thanks so much for the great job you’re doing with these addons. <3

I’m not sure if this has been entered with the latest update or not. But one thing I would really really like included is a list of food for all pets that won’t ever be eaten. Modified by the user or Gazmik before the said food is even in the bag.
An example. I was participating in the fun fishing contest in STV. On a PvE server I don’t have to worry about faction issues, but I still fish without a pet so I can just feign and keep fishing. Well I fished a bunch of the tasty fish and one of the special fish to get the cool +5 fishing boots. I pulled out my bear on the way back to Booty Bay and low and behold…. My bear ate the fish. So in conclusion I’d like a list of food that we can modify and be permanetly built into Feed O’ Matic, and state that the said fish/special food will not be eaten. I think before a pet had to be out before we could specifiy what it could eat, well my bear ate the fish before I thought of and probably wouldn’t have been able to prevent had I been thinking ahead.
Hopefully thats understandable. If you have questions feel free to contact me with my e-mail address.

LOL!! Came here to do the same as Richard and Jonathan did, only my idea was to make another bar or window or something. but the happyness icon sounds like a cooler idea.

I modified your code to feed the pet if the pet frame is clicked, send me a note if you’d like it.
