Feed-O-Matic 1700.2
[ download ]
- Fixed an error in a debugging statement that prevented feeding from working for some.
- A bit better about not cluttering SavedVariables with empty stuff for non-Hunters and when certain features are unused.

Still getting error about pet can not find food. Made sure the food was in the database with an ADD.. Said it was…. Go to feeed pet /feed feed no dice…

Ket: Try typing this and pressing return: /script GFWUtils.Debug = true And then pressing your Feed Pet binding again… let me know what messages you see.

Feed-O-Matic appears to be incompatible with MoveAnything. When Feed-O-Matic is enabled, it somehow modifies MoveAnything.lua, effectively disabling the addon, although Feed-O-Matic itself is able to function. The only way I know of restoring moveanything is by deleting moveanything.lua (and reverting to the old lua, if possible) and disabling the feed mod. Can it be modified so I can use both mods at the same time?

I just want to report that I use this with MoveAnything and it works perfectly.
There is an update to MoveAnything! that can be found on the UI forums at forums.worldofwarcraft.com.
I am having no problems what so ever with this addon. Works great!
I use Flexbar, MoveAnything, heck… about 40 different addons together in a happy unison.

I found the thread (no thanks to Blizzard’s craptastic search function) and think it will help, thanks.

I’m having the same issue as Ket. Getting (nil) out from every food I have when I enabled debug. The addon was working perfectly until I got a new pet.
September 16th, 2005 at 6:32 pm
When on enables the suggested debuging code one gets told that the two types of food in my pack have nil as the quality value and the addon passes them by.

Thanks man!! working just as it should now. the error message I was getting before this last fix was “no feedable pet”…..well anyway working fine now..thanks for the time and effort you put into this ๐

I tried with /script GFWUtils.Debug = true and got many lines with Quality of food: (nil). It won’t feed my cat.

Same problem.
Sometimes my pet feeds sometimes he find nothing and i must manually feed him. All the food i have is in his food list and he likes it all The mod sometimes cannot find food, after relogging he find food, 10 min later nothing.

I have the same problem as balgor , it works for some time 10 mins sometimes , 20 mins , 3 hours , then bam , cant find any food. gonna try that command and see if it happens today.
September 18th, 2005 at 1:41 am
Just adding a “me too” reply. I’m seeing the same problem where, with Debug enabled, it’ll list off the food in my pack, but with Quality for (x): (nil), ending with “could not find any food in your pack”.

Hi, there.
I use the German client to play WoW and i have some Questions to translate the Foodlist. I tried out to rewrite the FeedOMatic_Foods.lua table into German foods but when i use the script it gaves me a nil error out.
Example When i translate Wild Hog Shank with Wildschweinschenkel thats somewhere into my bags it wont work everytime the same error.
You say it works with the English Name-ids, why it should not work with the German ones ???
Hope get help soon, the Tool sounds cool

Tender Wolf Steak isn’t a known meat. I tried to add it via
/feedomatic add meat Tender Wolf Steak /feedomatic add meat “Tender Wolf Steak”
but it wouldn’t add to the menu.

Okay, I think I’ve found the problem many are having… seems 1.7 changed the way pets gain happiness while under the Feed Pet Effect, which royally threw off the calculation of which foods are “better” to feed any given pet. I think I’ve managed to adapt Feed-O-Matic to the new behavior, and will be posting a new release shortly.
Zafiro: Either it’s not working for you for the same reasons it’s not working for English users, or it’s not working because it currently depends on more English text than just item names. I hope to make Feed-O-Matic more language-independent soon.
Jonathan Roy: Oops… some time ago (well before initial release) I changed the add/remove functions to take item links instead of typed names (and they can take multiple links on one line, too). Type “
/fom add meat
” and then shift-click a [Tender Wolf Steak] in your bags. (Also, in the next release you’ll be able to type out item names again, but it’ll only take one per line.September 19th, 2005 at 9:54 am
Just to pass on some more info, my issue cleared itself up when I activated feed-o-matic at the same time I had the cooking tradeskill window open and a meet vendor window open and had just purchased a tasty treat for my nice kitty cat. I’ve not carefully narrowed down which condition was actually responsible for fixing things.

I have it set to not feed foods used in green or higher recipies. However, my cat just ate a Mystery Meat. This is used by my Dragonbreath Chili recipie, which is still yellow skill lvl. I have it set to keep at least “0” spots open, to avoid it force feeding quest or recipie items if my pack is low on space.
September 19th, 2005 at 9:12 pm
Later on there was no food available for pet, even though I had a mystery meat, so I guess it does work but just had a glitch. Not going to worry about it, overall I’m very happy with the mod!

im still getting issues with feeding my pet. as another has indicated, it was working perfectly until i got rid of my pet and tamed a new one, while both are cats, and have the same diet. even with 5 different meats in my bags the mod still cannont find a suitable food.
it seems all the foods ‘priority’ (or quality) number is being set to nil, and thus the mod is skipping it for some reason.
i thought perhaps exiting wow, removing the settings file, restarting wow, then exiting wow, then reinstalling the mod to get things back to a “first use” type situation would clear things up but that too seems to leave me stuck in the same situation. food available but the mod still wont feed it to my pet.
when this worked, it worked great. eagerly awaiting a new version. thanks again

I just logged in. It fed my cat a steak, then said I had no food available, but I actually had 11 (10 now as you can see).
Also I notice in Arathi Basin BG, when I die and get ressed it might try to feed my pet (normally with the no food available message). But right after you res, the pet is given 3000 happiness I believe from the combat log. When in a BG, there should a short delay in detecting if food is needed after you res, so you don’t feed for nothing before pet gets giant happiness buff.
Or perhaps, disable feeding during BGs totally. (Perhaps as an option.)

Having a problem with using F-O-M and Lootlink, mousing over an item to be looted issues an error in Lootlink. Tracing this back, it comes from having FOM enabled, at load, the interface gives an error in GWFUtils.lua at line 144, attempt to index global ‘gfwutils’ (a nil value). Disabling tooltips does not solve this problem.
