- Updated for compatibility with WoW patch 1.10. (Minor changes were needed.)
- Should no longer disconnect if you have feed emotes turned on and you try to feed your pet a Legendary item. (Probably not a bug many experienced, but still…)
- Minor improvements to utility code shared across Fizzwidget addons.
- KNOWN BUG: The tooltip additions aren’t showing up in all cases where they should. Another update to address this issue should be coming along soon.

Using the latest 11000-1 of the Feed-O-Matic. Since the 1.10 upgrade, the Matic makes all the usual clunks and noises, but never feeds my pet. The poor guy is getting hungry since I keep forgetting to feed him! 🙂
What might be happening, and what could I provide to help assist troubleshooting this wondeful device?

I’m having trouble with the updated FOM in the 1.10 patch. When FOM tries to automatically feed my pet, I hear the sound but nothing else happens. A couple of seconds later it repeates. If I use /fom feed, it works fine.

Automatic feeding isn’t working for me, and I’ve tried it as the only AddOn loaded as well as with my whole collection. I hear the sound of the food being dropped, but it doesn’t get eaten. /fom feed, however, works fine.

did you happen to look at the issue i emailed you about a week ago? where it would not feed a pet Deep Fried Plaintains?
March 29th, 2006 at 8:30 am
After 1.10 I couldn’t get the updated version to work. I could use the /feed feed [link] command, but otherwise it would just play the “feed” sound repeatedly and wouldn’t actually feed or play the emote.
March 29th, 2006 at 10:36 am
/PF feed works but the auto feed is not working for me i hear it clicking like its trying to feed but it dosent work just keeps sitting there click clicking away
March 29th, 2006 at 11:21 am
I’m having the same issue. The feed “kathunk” will sound repeatedly, but the pet will not be feed, nor will a feed emote be issued (if that helps).
That said, keep it up. Your mods are lovely!
March 29th, 2006 at 11:38 am
Same as Gartanon. The auto feed seems broken. You can hear the “crunch” several times as the addon is retrying…
March 29th, 2006 at 12:14 pm
Same issue as above. Autofeed is not working for me. manual feed is just fine.
March 29th, 2006 at 12:47 pm
Ditto for me on the above – hear it trying to autofeed every few seconds.
March 29th, 2006 at 2:13 pm
Same issue as the others… No autofeed, but “/fom feed” does work.
March 29th, 2006 at 2:58 pm
I have same issue as above Autofeed does not work, but hear it clicking.
thanks
March 29th, 2006 at 4:22 pm
Ditto. I tried playing with a couple of the settings thinking it was simply being more picky about which foods to give the pet than before, but none of them helped. I could also hear the odd clicking noise mentioned above as it tried to do something.
March 29th, 2006 at 4:53 pm
I am have the same issue. i get the sound effect of it feeding my pet, but nothing happens, i have to manually feed my pet with /fom feed.
March 29th, 2006 at 5:37 pm
Thanks for your reports; I’m looking into the issue, and will post an update as soon as is feasible. I fear it may not be resolvable — in recent WoW patches, many actions have been restricted such that they can only be performed upon direct user input. Automatic pet feeding may be one of them…
March 29th, 2006 at 6:14 pm
same problem as the guys above, but with a little bit more info. I was moving some stuff around in my inventory and noticed that every time a moved some pet food, it would feed one to my pet… dont know if this helps any.
March 29th, 2006 at 6:49 pm
is there any data or logs i can provide to help ya out bud?
March 29th, 2006 at 7:31 pm
I am having the same problems as above. What I have seen is that it is not turning off the savebonus option. You do /fom savebonus off and then a /fom status and its still turned on not sure if that helps
March 29th, 2006 at 8:26 pm
I understand in reading the UI forums it auto feed might be restricted. However, the button I made up in a macro works great. It pulls the appropriate food out of my packs as I collect it and the restricted foods list works also. The macro is just
/fom feed
and I use the dog bone icon, works great.
March 29th, 2006 at 9:25 pm
I’m having the same problem too. I think it has something to do with the changes blizzard made. Most things can’t be automated anymore.
March 30th, 2006 at 12:01 am
I love you mod, and even if the auto-feeding becomes null because of the demon that is 1.10, I will still use it because it’s easier than going thru all my bags on the fly. 🙂
March 30th, 2006 at 2:51 am
Hey. Trouple with the automatic feeding in the latest update. I noticed that when the auto-feed is activated, it automaticly press my #3 button in my actiombar. shouldnt do that. hope this info can help u figure out whats wrong. thnx for many great addons. u really add some smiles to the game 🙂

Ditto on the Auto-feed NOT working..ugh. BTW is it NOT in the plans to EVER have a GUI for this ? It would be SO much nicer than 20 different stinkin’ “slash” commands LOL this isn’t 1992 DOS anymore .A Pain but what a wonderful thing it would be for us hunters.Just a thought .
March 30th, 2006 at 4:01 pm
its strange that it clicks and the /pf feed still finds food and feeds can there not be just a hidden trigger off the sound the will issue the command mabe rude and crude but it would get the job done for now.
March 30th, 2006 at 4:36 pm
I sincerely hope a fix can be found for this. My poor cat has grown accustomed to being fed perfectly, and he’s now starting to look rather moth-eaten and skinny.
March 30th, 2006 at 7:09 pm
Gazmik: Love your mods only slightly more than I enjoy the website you use to peddle your goods… Even if we forever have to click a macro that is simply [/fom feed] we’re still all better off for your creation. Personally, I’m using the ‘kathunk’ sfx to remind me to click the above mentioned macro.
If you had a fan club, and they had meetings, and someone needed to come by early to setup chairs, I just might be willing to stand around and point at where they needed to go…
March 30th, 2006 at 11:27 pm
From the sounds of it, autofeed is a thing of the past. Any way you can make it so the mod yells at you in big red text “Your pet requires feeding” and plays a noise?
That way we can click a macro button for /feed feed 🙂
March 31st, 2006 at 6:39 am
Was thinking that you could put a check in to see if the pet needed food and to execute on a forward or backward movement. were always moving in the game so it would appear to work perfectly. and you could setup the keybinding if you used something other than the blizzard default. Just a thought.
March 31st, 2006 at 8:04 am
A suggestion – even if you can’t get it fixed to work, could you maybe just bump up the volume on the sound, or make it more noticeable, as a “feeding time” indicator?
March 31st, 2006 at 10:00 am
a suggestion might be that you take and when it picks up that it needs to feed, have it input /fom feed. it would still automate it and keep it simple.

Hi Gazmik: I’m having a problem when the automatic feeding tries to feed my pet and I am in the middle of rearranging items in my bag.
I end up with the food that was supposed to be fed to the pet being moved instead of the item I selected manually.
April 1st, 2006 at 6:46 am
I’m having the same issue as everyone above… Also, the /fom feed works. It finds the appropriate food stack based on the fom settings. The autofeed makes sounds, but doesn’t feed.
I too hope this will be resolvable as I tend to forget to feed. At least the sound reminds me.
April 1st, 2006 at 8:42 am
Any luck fixing the hooks to the bags? From what I’ve checked out, that appears to be the problem.
April 1st, 2006 at 9:28 am
If you press ‘Esc’ and go into Key Bindings, there is a section where you can assign a key to feed your pet. So no need to make a macro or waste a spot on your action bars 🙂
April 1st, 2006 at 11:36 am
Since it appears tha auto-feed is broken by blizz and on purpose. Would it be possible to replace the auto-feed code with some sort of alarm. A note that flashes, “Doood I am hungry” would be great! I have been using the keybind to feed my pets and tyhat works just fine for me. My only problem is I forget to look and see if my pet is happy or not.

Hi Gazmik,
I have had the same problems as all above, but have a little extra problem to add to it which may help track things down. If you have no food that the pet likes in your bags an error pop-up shows it’s ugly head. I am unable to copy it down to post here as I am a quadraplegic (paralyzed from the neck down) and use voice recognition/retinal scanner to run my computer and play the game. That means I can’t write with a pen/pencil on paper. I may try to put the game in windowed mode however, then switch between the window for the game and this window and rely on my notoriously poor memory to get all the information to you. Will try to get this accomplished within the next hour or so.

Hi Gazmik,
Took less time than I thought it would for dear ol’ Fluffy, my pet raptor, to get ravenously hungry (she has a tapeworm I think) and thereby trigger the error. So without further adieu, here it is:
Interface/Addons/GFW_FeedOMatic/FeedOMatic.lua: 1353: attempt to concatenate global `quantity’ (a nul value)
I’m profoundly programming languages illiterate and have no idea what this means or if it is relevant, but I’m hoping that maybe it will help determine where the problem resides.
Regards,

Although i downloaded this mainly for the auto pet feeding feature just to find it dosen’t work, it has replaced my macro to feed pet from a assigned bag slot and is still a great addon. I agree with Dalinor that if the feed pet is indeed restricted now to direct user input an alert system such as a emote generated from a change in the pets selected happiness level saying “Doood I am hungryâ€? would be a good addition. My Kitty thanks you from the bottom of his belly for your addon, keep up the great work.
