ReagentCost 1800.1

  • Updated for WoW patch 1.8.
  • Typing /rc <item link> will now output a brief report on the reagents used to craft the item, their estimated costs, the estimated resale value of the crafted item, and the estimated profit/loss if you were to buy all the reagents, make the item, and then auction it.
  • General improvements to utility code shared with other Fizzwidget addons (GFWUtils and GFWTable).

NOTE: While Reagent Cost has been updated for WoW patch 1.8, the addons it depends on for price data haven’t (as of this writing), and they most likely need changes in order to function without errors. See their home pages (Auctioneer, KC-Items, or AuctionMatrix) for updates.

Im getting a missing dependancy error when loading reagent cost

  2. Fubs Says:

Heh nevermind.. my screw up.. I dont have Auctioneer, KC_Items or Auctionmatrix loaded … derrrr

  3. Ramoon Says:

    Hey Fizz,

I love your gadgets and I use four of them all the time. The only suggestion I’d like to make is the possibility of ReagentCost taking stuff you can already get on your own into account? Why should a leatherworker pay for leather in the auction house if he has the skinning ability? I’d much rather see the prices of the things I have to buy as it increases my profit enormously.

  4. Melusina Says:

Norganna’s released a patch file to get Auctioneer working until it’s updated, but that doesn’t make it work with ReagentCost, apparently. RC insists there’s no auction data.

  5. Gazmik Fizzwidget Says:

Ramoon: ReagentCost’s “total materials” figure isn’t necessarily to be interpreted only as “what it’d cost you to buy all materials for the item yourself”; it’s also an indicator of whether you’d do better to sell what materials you might already have / can easily get. (Many crafted items are worth less in the player economy than the materials it takes to make them.)

Also, what any given player considers worth farming versus worth buying is a rather vague distinction that can vary greatly from person to person or from one item to another. However, if you’d like to see more detailed info for making such judgements, you can make use of the new feature introduced in 1800.1: type “/rc “, shift-click an item you can make to insert a link, and press return. You’ll get a listing of estimated values for each ingredient, and can ignore whichever ones suit you.

  6. Adray Says:

Like Melusina, I have the auctioneer hotfix patch, but RC doesn’t see my auction data. I am running Auctioneer beta as well…could that be part of the problem?

  7. Melusina Says:

Adray: I’m running Auctioneer 3.1.0.0383, which I assume is the same beta you’re running. I dropped back down to 3.0.11, and RC works again. I’m not sure what I think of the tradeoff, but it’s good to know, at least.

  8. Cargas Says:

I’m still getting the “missing dependancy error” when loading reagent cost at starup. I just updated to KC_Item 0.93 Beta1a and have already scanned the AU. Any reason why this is not working??? Thanks…

  9. Adray Says:

Hmmm, the new 1.8 complaint Auctioneer includes the old beta upgrade… Is Reagent Cost going to release a patch to work with the new Auctioneer?

  10. Nahkohe Says:

Gazmik: Great addons ! Just an FYI that KCI_items has been updated to 1.8 and it doesn’t work with your latest release.

  11. alcaras Says:

RC is giving Confidence 0% with the new Auctioneer… :-/

  12. Akopian Says:

Getting the following error when I told Reagent Cost not to show cost information in the trade window with the command /rc off:

Interface\Addons\GFW_ReagentCost\ReagentCost.lua:95:attempt to concatenate local ‘costText’ (a nil value)

Looks to me like line 83 is naming the local variable costText but if FRC_Config is not enabled then costText never receives a value by the time it gets to line 95.

  13. Leper Says:

Just a brief request for some word on an update that can work with the latest 1.8 version of Auctioneer.

    BTW I love the addon!
