- Fixed an issue where FOM would mistakenly indicate that no food is in your bags upon zoning, logging in, dismounting, etc.
- Typing
/fom debug
will toggle the display of additional info in the tooltip when mousing over the pet happiness icon, showing the list of the next several foods FOM will attempt to use. Check this if FOM is using foods you don’t expect it to (or failing to find foods you do).
- Fixed an error when pressing the Feed Pet keybinding while your pet is dead or dismissed.
- We no longer show a chat window message or emote if feeding was unsuccessful (e.g. if the pet is out of range).
- [Underspore Pod] is now treated as an exception to the “foods with bonus effects” rule, since it’s easy to summon more. (Yeah, it’s kinda hackish. A better UI for customizing food preferences is coming in a future update.)
- Added Traditional Chinese localization.
- Uses a simpler, more reliable means of hooking item tooltips.
- Added support for the Ace AddonLoader — when that addon is present, Feed-O-Matic will only load for Hunter characters.

Hey what are the chances we can get a slash command to feed pet? I don’t want to have to hit a keyboard key to feed pet. If we had a /fom feed command or so, could use it in lunarsphere 😉
Great Mod!

Sounds like another addon might be doing something that taints the secure attributes of frames we’re using. Do you still get the error if Feed-O-Matic is the only addon enabled? If not, try enabling other addons until you find the culprit.

I’d like to be able to provide a slash command too, but unfortunately that’s not possible in the current WoW UI. Feeding your pet involves casting a spell, and that’s a protected action only available through secure functions/attributes provided by Blizzard — there’s not a way to create a new slash command that uses those functions.
However, it is possible to use a slash command to emulate clicking on a secure button, so long as you know its name. (It’s possible to make a key binding for “clicking” on a secure button, too, which is how FOM’s key bindings work.) To “click” Feed-O-Matic’s button, it’s
/click FOM_FeedButton
; insert that into your macro and you’re good to go.(It’s also possible to make a macro for pet feeding that goes like this:
/cast Feed Pet /use Smoked Talbuk Venison
or like this:/cast Feed Pet /use 4 1
with the latter assuming that you always keep your pet food in the first slot of your fourth bag… but either way, you lose Feed-O-Matic’s ability to automatically choose from among foods at hand.)August 2nd, 2007 at 9:32 am
YAY Yes, the only thing I didnt like for the /cast feed pet, was the fact that.. well.. it doesnt search my bags for junk food! The /click method sounds exactly what i was looking for!
I’m not real good with lua, but i’m good at other programming. I feel better now knowing its blizzard’s fault for my failed attempts at making a slash command for using your mod. lol.
Thanks so much for the super prompt response!

I think I’m finding an oddity. Fom refuses to feed my pet Meaty Bat Wing. I think this is because it is used in a recipe I don’t know. However that recipe is well below my current skill level. Is there anything I can do about this? (short of seeking out and learning the recipe) I’ve got fom configured not to use stuff in orange or higher recipes.

I’d also like to see the option for “always use conjured food first” (including Underspore Pods!) regardless of other settings.

Diet detection for Wind Serpents needs tweaking. For this one type of pet and this type of pet only, I get ‘your pet doesn’t like that food’ errors.

Oh and while I’m at it, the ‘skill level’ detection for foods I can cook with doesn’t seem to be working.
I’m totally okay with it eating foods from grey and green recipes. For yellow and orange ones, no. However, it acts like foods from grey and green should be avoided and they don’t get eaten unless I hold Alt.
I’m using Advanced Tradeskill Window if that matters.

Hi been having problems with hunters on 3 accounts. They all have issues with the mod feeding pet food that give bonues. one in particular is beer basted boar ribs. Another problem lately especially since tuesdays it errors and says theres no food to feed the pet but there is. I have feed set to F key and it has always worked fine. I have only one kind of food to minimize problems but it still errors. when i hit F it says theres no known food and the cursor changes to the select option. if we open our bags and click on the food we have it feeds the pet fine but wont lock it in. I have deleted all files associated with fom but no go. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone read these anymore ? I see updates to other mods here but not this one. Its getting very annoying that food that gives buffs are getting eaten on a regular basis when the option to ignore it is checked. Then there are the other issues I have mentioned.
